What is the International Youth Journal?
The International Youth Journal offers interested youths the unique possibility to publish articles online on an international level! Most articles are written by high-class students who are specialists and have successfully proven their knowledge in a given discipline. Award winners, young scientists, political activists, or motivated writers: Everybody is welcomed to read the International Youth Journal and to publish own articles and stories! Since the journal is operated on an international level it enables authors to reach a wide range of audience across many different nations of the world.

The four main categories - science, environment, politics, and culture - as well as the clear structure of the journal enables great exchange and readability. Any youth that takes action and wants to make an impact is welcomed to receive International Youth Journal articles and to share own opinions, articles, or stories!

Youths who are interested in writing articles about topics they are specialists in are welcomed to submit and publish! Articles may address various fields and disciplines from science, politics, economy, to environmental issues and much more. This may include personal success stories as well as comments, reports or essays! Here you find a list of possible formats:

You can submit your article here: Article Submission Form. Your submitted article is then reviewed by editors of the International Youth Journal. If it fits the quality standards of the International Youth Journal, we will publish it as soon as possible and inform you via email. The quality standards incl ude aspects such as grammar, readability, writing-style, or knowledge. In the case that the editors do not accept your article, we will give you feedback on how to improve the article - you can submit an edited version again. We highly recommend you to create an author profile here: Create Author Profile. This will make it easier to review and accept your article.

+ How was the International Youth Journal founded?
The International Youth Journal started as a part of the Youth Planet Protector Organisation founded by Fabian Schneider and Rami Aly in 2016: Many people in the YPPO organization desired to publish articles and write about topics of current debates. Due to continuous requests from external youth to read and publish articles, the journal was separated from the YPPO organization in the beginning of 2017: the International Youth Journal was founded!

+ What types of text (formats) does 'article' include?
News articles, Scientific articles, Personal opinions, Short/Long essays, Professional blog posts, Stories (non-fictional), Fictional stories on certain topic, Poems on certain topics, Announcements and public calls (certain means: they have to address a certain relevant or recent topic)
+ Do you publish my fictional story?
Yes, it is possible to publish fictional texts if their address a real issue, e.g. a fictional story about climate change which is supposed to inspire youths for climate actions.
+ Can I write about my subjective / personal opinion?
Yes.
+ Can I publish a poem I wrote?
Yes, the poem should address a current issue, make other youths think about a certain topic, or be inspirational.
+ Can I write about my personal success story or achievement?
Yes.
+ Can I publish announcements or public calls?
Yes, however, we will check carefully if it fits the standards of the journal. If you would like to promote an opportunity, please get in touch via the contact form.
+ What are the quality standards of the journal?
The quality standards include aspects such as grammar, readability, writing-style, or knowledge. However, the standards may vary depending on the type, format, and style of the article.
+ What happens if my article is not accepted?
You will receive feedback and the editors will explain why your article was rejected. You have the option to edit/improve your article and submit it again.
+ Can I submit my article again if it was rejected?
Yes, if you improved your essay according to the feedback of the editors.
+ Can only people from 'Active IYJ Countries' read and publish?
No.
+ Can I submit an article that was published in another journal?
No.
+ If my article is published in the IYJ, can I publish it in another journal too?
No.
+ Can I submit an article that I published in my blog or website?
Yes, because a blog does not count as official publication.
+ Why should I select an icon for my article?
The icon will be displayed next to your article title. It should represent the content of your article.
+ Can I submit my article as PDF, Word, or text document?
Yes. We recommend you to submit the file as word or text document.
+ What is the subtitle / introduction / abstract?
This should be two to four sentences that introduce your article. It will be displayed in a box at the top of your article. People will read this introduction first!
+ Is there a word limit?
No, however, if your article exceeds a reasonable amount, the editors will contact you.
+ Why should I choose a picture for my article?
A picture will give your article a nice touch and might increase the attention for the article. If you do not have a good picture, you can choose one from this page: www.pexels.com. You do not need to choose a picture. In this case, the editors will choose a good picture for the article.
+ How do I know my article was submitted?
After you click the submit button, there will appear a 'Submission successful' information message. You will also receive a confirmation email.
+ Will I receive a confirmation message?
Yes.
+ I did not receive a confirmation message.
It might take several hours for the confirmation message to arrive. Please check that the confirmation email is not marked as spam. If you do not receive a confirmation message after one day, please submit your essay again or contact us.
+ I have problems submitting my article.

+ What are Official Youth Journalists?
Students around the world that are dedicated for writing articles, posts and news stories can become Official Youth Journalists. You can write about stories in your country or posts articles on general topics. Youths that become Official Youth Journalists are dedicated, talented, and inspire thousands of people every day. Youth Journalists receive a special IYJ journalists license which gives them the unique opportunity to publish and report as an official journalist.
+ What benefits do Official Youth Journalists have?
Being Official Youth Journalist is a high honor and gives you many privileges and possibilities. Most importantly: You will receive an official IYJ journalist license which includes an official journalist certificate and journalist identification card! + Are there exclusive events for Official Youth Journalists?
Youth journalists can participate in several exclusive fully funded conferences and events. Also: There are many programs and events that prefer Official Youth Journalists in the application process.
+ What is the Youth Journalist License?
As certified youth journalists, you might get access to news conferences, press-conferences, announcements, and other special events with your journalist certificate or your journalist badge which are reserved for journalists like you. The events include internal IYJ events, as well as events from governmental institutions, organizations, companies, or other press announcements. You have many possibilities to actively report from your country and to share your opinions with the world!

Everybody that is interested in reporting, journalism, or writing is welcomed to apply. You can apply from any country and with any background.

After you send your application, it will be reviewed by editors and chief journalists of the International Youth Journal. We will inform you within two months (usually less) if you are qualified as Official Youth Journalist.

Furthermore, you also have a clear overview of your articles and more!

+ What is 'Author of the Day'?
Every day we select one of the authors (required: author profile) and display him on the sidebar and front page. There are no certificates attached. It might help authors to get attention to the articles they wrote.
+ Are there awards for authors and journalists?
The International Youth Journal is proud to honor several authors with special awards each year for their commitment, inspirational articles, and more. The announcement of the authors takes places in January or June each year. To be honored with one of the awards, you need to have an author account. Whether the award is connected to a prize money depends on the funding possibilities each year.
+ What are there for awards?
Authors can receive following awards: Best Scientific Article of the Year, Best Author of the Year, Best Journalist of the Year, Award for exceptional Inspiration.
+ Does the International Youth Journal conduct competitions?
The International Youth Journal organizes various student competitions each year in order to motivate, honor, and inspire students around the world.
